ReUse Network Representative meets with you, reviews your project & takes photos of your home's reusable materials – then we send the photos to the appraiser to use as reference for your free assessment
We connect you with a qualified independent appraiser for a free estimate of your materials' fair market value. When the value of donated materials exceeds $5,000, the IRS requires an appraisal by a qualified appraiser.
Appraisers will advise you whether an appraisal is necessary based on their estimate of your donated materials' fair market value.
We connect you with one or more of our Deconstruction & ReUse Network Member Contractors for a bid. After an on-site assessment, contractors will submit a bid to you or your contractor, to facilitate your donation and the deconstruction process. View network contractors
Using our “Run the Numbers” form, we help you determine if Deconstruction works for you. We will help you assess the environmental and financial costs & savings of a Deconstruction Solution utilizing information provided by the contractors and appraisers and the form provided. We recommend you always consult your personal accountant for advice on matters concerning your taxes.
How It Works
Once you've completed our program's 4 Easy Assessment Steps, just pick your contractor and we're ready to start. Here's the process.
A Deconstruction & ReUse Network representative will complete a thorough inventory. The process takes approximately 1 hour per 1000 square feet of living space. (See Preliminary Inventory.) This inventory will be combined with the lumber inventory, when applicable, and is necessary to substantiate your donation.
Items are carefully removed, staged and then distributed to other appropriate non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity and Corazon. After finished materials have been removed from project site, framing lumber is dismantled, unitized, and inventory prior to shipping.
You receive an itemized report and final appraisal for your tax filing
