This project in Mar Vista entailed the complete deconstruction of a 1,400 sq ft, single-story home and detached garage, originally built in 1947. In this case, the homeowners and general contractor both referenced a desire to positively impact their community as the primary reason for choosing deconstruction. They can certainly feel good about their decision, as over 7 tons of finished material and lumber was salvaged for reuse. Much of this material will directly benefit the local community, just as the decision-makers intended.
